Uncommon Knowledge is a podcast by Emily Dolmans and Rachael White. Each week we talk to a researcher at the University of Oxford about the interesting things they’ve dug up in the library this week – the stories, facts, anecdotes and bits and pieces that are too good to be buried in a thesis.

We talk to researchers in from many different disciplines and on many different subjects. So far, topics covered by the podcast include Eurovision, pontifical emissaries, medieval pigeon warfare, cannibalism, and whether Hereward the Wake would have been pro-Brexit.

This blog will link to the podcast and provide links to information about the topics discussed in the podcast, as well as occasional guest posts.

If you would like to participate in the podcast, we’d love to hear from you at uncommonknowledgeoxford@gmail.com. We are also on twitter: @UncommonOx

Emily Dolmans holds a DPhil in English from Exeter College, Oxford, and is working on cultural contact in the literatures of twelfth- to fourteenth-century England.

Rachael White is a doctoral student in Classics at Exeter College, working on the reception of Greek and Latin literature in colonial Australia.

The podcast is funded by a grant from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities (TORCH).
